Scientist IV, Biophysics Kinetics

The main responsibility of this position is to provide expertise and knowledge in the area of biophysics, with a particular focus on SPR, for detailed characterization of binding kinetics including epitope binning and mechanistic studies.  You will provide technical insight and leadership to multiple project teams and will also have opportunities to lead full project teams within Discovery Research. Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim's high regard for our employees   Duties & Responsibilities: Lead in proposing and implementing new experimental designs and concepts that contribute to core group/research goals and reflect expert knowledge in development of biological drugs and in the area of kinetic analysis related to the development of biological drugs Assumes leadership role for project teams or acts as a representative on multiple project teams and contributes to overall program goals Independently communicates results by preparing clear technical reports, publications and oral presentations; effectively delivers updates to senior management in context of overall project goals Complies with all applicable regulations; Ensures that work performed in area of responsibility is conducted in a safe and compliant manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies Initiates, designs, interprets accurately, troubleshoots  and completes routine procedures independently and efficiently; initiates, designs, interprets accurately, troubleshoots  and completes non-routine and difficult procedures generally without supervision; Conducts exploratory experiments Proposes, gains support for and implements ideas from individual's knowledge of science and technology and understanding of drug discovery process Proposes, evaluates and implements new technologies; independently applies basic scientific principles, performs literature searches, attends scientific meetings, and keeps abreast of literature in own field Effectively communicates and defends own work, orally and in writing, in the context of the team goals at meetings Demonstrates a solid level of technical proficiency in field; trains technicians and junior level scientists in this field Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies Participate in cross departmental project teams when assigned Requirements: Master's Degree in Physical Biochemistry or related field from an accredited institution with six-plus (6+) years of experience in a related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with 10+ years of experience in a related field or equivalent experience in a related field Experience and knowledge biophysics, with a particular focus on SPR Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the field of protein biochemistry Advanced training in the area of technical expertise Propose new experimental designs, Conduct probing experiments Plan and conduct laboratory experiments and evaluate and interpret data Provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel Prepare technical reports, publications and oral presentations  Act as a leader in absence of supervisor Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities: Must have multiple years of prior experience in kinetic analysis - SPR Provide and apply expertise in biophysical techniques. Demonstrate additional scientific knowledge of projects and understand technology beyond biophysics Maintains scientific excellence in area of protein biochemistry Industry experience highly desired Biostatistics data analysis a plus Antibody Epitope Mapping preferred Eligibility Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
