Stephen's Episcopal Church is located in the historic district of downtown Ridgefield.
The campus is comprised of the Church, Rectory, Administration building and two smaller structures.
Duties:
-Oversees all facilities maintenance, cleaning, and grounds keeping for the St.
Stephen's Church campus.
Will support the parish lay and clerical leadership in the development and execution of capital repair and capital improvement projects.
Will supervise paid staff and/or contract personnel in the execution of these responsibilities.
Approximately 5 hours per week will be spent in direct cleaning and/or room set-up.
Schedule and supervise contract vendor maintenance and repair work which shall include:
o Landscaping o Snow removal o Cleaning o HVAC o Plumbing and Electric o Painting o Other special projects Identify and diagnose repair /maintenance issues that arise on campus.
Report such items to the Parish Administrator and/or Property Committee.
Identify appropriate service providers and negotiate contracts to address such issues within Sexton's delegated authority.
Coordinate with the Rector and/or Property Committee for repair projects that fall outside of Sexton's delegated authority.
Complete routine repair and maintenance projects directly (rather than through contract vendor).
This work will include routine repair and maintenance as well as special projects that may be assigned by the Rector and/or Property Committee
Qualifications:
- Good working knowledge of commercial and residential building maintenance best practices Experience with managing vendor contracts (minimum 3-5 years of experience preferred) Ability to complete basic building / property repairs (e.
g.
, plumbing, electrical fixture repair / replacement, light carpentry, painting, etc.
) Comfortable performing basic landscaping duties (e.
g.
, weeding, watering, etc.
) Experience as a commercial property manager or assistant manager preferred.
(minimum 3-5 years of experience preferred) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and to work effectively with volunteers and staff Time management skills are essential given the variety and unpredictability of week-to-week issues and projects; strong organizational skills with attention to detail Safe handling and disposal of commercial-grade cleaning chemicals This position requires the ability to work in both indoor and outdoor work environments in all weather conditions, year-round.
The incumbent must be able to correspond effectively via email & text and organize & maintain information electronically The incumbent must be able to manage both heavy and light equipment and work safely with such tools The incumbent must be able to climb steps and ladders; walk, bend and stand extensively as well as lift heavy objects (up to 35 lbs.
